E-commerce
E-commerce websites for Niagara businesses
We're a two-person web design and development studio in Thorold. We build online stores for Niagara small businesses that want to sell online, and we scope each one individually so the price fits the store you need.
Tell us what you want to sellWho this is for
Businesses in Niagara that want to take orders and payments on their own website: a shop with a product catalogue, a maker who sells direct, or a business adding an online store to a site it already has.
If you only need a page that says who you are and how to reach you, you don't need an online store. Our packages start at $1,499 CAD for that.
What's involved in an online store
- A product catalogue: your products, their photos, descriptions, and prices.
- A cart and checkout: how a customer picks products and pays.
- Payments: a secure way to take card payments and get paid.
- Inventory: keeping track of what's in stock.
- Connections to the software you already use, like accounting or inventory systems, through API integrations.
Every store is different, which is why we don't work from a fixed price list for this one.
What it costs
Online stores are custom builds. We scope each one individually and quote a fixed price in writing before any work starts. A custom build usually takes four to twelve weeks and includes architecture planning, custom development, testing and QA, documentation, and 30 days of launch support. Prices are in Canadian dollars, plus HST.
For context, published Canadian guides say e-commerce builds start near $5,000 and regularly exceed $20,000 for large catalogues with payment gateway integration. We break down where those numbers come from in what a small business website costs.
What pushes the price up: a bigger catalogue, more complicated payment setup, connecting to other software, and whether you need help with copywriting and photography.
After launch, our care plan is $149 CAD a month for hosting, backups, security updates, uptime monitoring, and an hour of content edits. The first month is included with every build.
How we scope a store
Before we quote, we ask these questions. Answer them first and any quote you get will be easier to compare.
- What is the site for? Getting found, getting enquiries, selling directly, serving existing customers?
- How many pages, roughly?
- Does it need to do anything, or only say something? Payments, bookings, logins, gated content, inventory?
- Does it need to connect to anything you already use? Booking software, CRM, accounting, inventory?
- Who is writing the words? You, us, or nobody yet?
- Do you have photography, or does that need to happen?
- Do you have a logo and brand colours, or is that part of the job?
- Are there accessibility or compliance requirements?
- What happens after launch? Who hosts it, who updates it, who do you call when it breaks?
- What's your actual timeline, and is it driven by something real?
Questions 3, 4, and 5 move the number the most. Question 9, what happens after launch, is the one people forget until the bill arrives.
